The typical home security installation is a smaller single day installation but often they have ongoing service costs. There are captive contractors like ADT, Vivint, CPI, ect. There are also contractors who carry multiple brands to choose from. These typically allow for more flexibility in the contracts but often have an up-front cost that captive contractors bake into their monthly payment. Some brands also offer no-contract, self-monitored systems or optional premium plans where you would not have a monthly payment at all.
